A Blue Exorcist zine celebrating the way the characters connect with each other through food.
Rin returns to the kitchen often. For him, food is constant, a connecting art that weaves people together. From the monastery to the dorm, Rin reaches out to others through his cooking. Comforting his friends and family, smoothing over fights and hurt feelings, Rin has used his love of cooking since childhood to help the people he cares about.
As creators, we wanted to extend Rin’s love of food through a zine capturing the art of cooking. This project delves into the cooking process by exploring the dishes displayed across the anime and manga. Capturing the recipes, steps, and methods of cooking this zine highlights Rin’s passion for creating food.
The Art of AOEX Cui-Zine celebrates Blue Exorcist and the joys of cooking. Between demonic fights and world-ending plots, Kato’s work reminds us of the importance of food, creation, and connection. What better way to express our love of the series than by returning to the quiet moments where our characters gather together, pull up a chair, and enjoy a wonderful homemade meal?
Join us in the kitchen,
Sincerely, The Cui-Zine Mod Team

General Info

🔥 What is a zine?
In our case, a zine is an unofficial fanmade collection of illustrations, written works, and/or merch.
You can read more about zines from both a contributor and supporter’s perspectives from this helpful resource: Zine Baby
🔥 What is the zine title?
This zine is titled “The Art of AOEX Cui-Zine,” or “The Cui-Zine” for short, as it is mainly an anthology of Blue Exorcist fanart celebrating the way the characters connect with each other through food. However, we are also welcoming fic writers and recipe writers to supplement the art!
AoEx is the official shorthand for Ao no Exorcist, which is the Japanese title of Blue Exorcist.
🔥What kind of content will be present in this zine? What is the theme?
From art, to cosplay, to writing, as long as the theme of food is present, expect to see the AoEx characters representing it! Prepare to be hungry!
Check the Info tab or our Tumblr for more details.
🔥Will this zine be digital or physical?
Ideally, both! The Cui-Zine will aim to have at least digital copies available for purchase, and physical bundles as stretch goals. For more information on the physical specs and what the stretch goals will be, check the Production Info section below.
🔥Will there be ships or NSFW?
No, this zine is completely for general audiences.
🔥Are OCs (original characters) allowed?
We’d prefer that artists use official characters from the series, but adding an OC alongside them is perfectly fine as long as they’re not the central focus of the work. More feedback will be given after you’ve pitched your idea as a contributor.
🔥Is this zine for-profit, charity, or free?
This zine will be for charity, to be determined by the mods and contributors during the production period.
